Meet Camarat: The Achingly Elegant Address to Elevate Your Next Evening Out

The Lowdown

Amsterdam-Noord’s southern tip has transformed in just a few years into the city’s Brooklyn-esque culinary frontier. One of its most recent arrivals, Camarat, landed with undeniable style a few months ago and if it isn’t already on your radar, it should be.

The Vibe

Camarat nails warehouse chic. Industrial-cool interiors blend effortlessly with refined design, creating a space that’s equal parts urban edge and candlelit elegance — perfect for a stylish dinner date or a fabulously grown-up evening out, sharing plates with a group of friends.

What are we Eating:

Let’s start with the sips — after all, wine is at the heart of the experience here. The list features meticulously selected top-quality organic wines, including their own from the distillery next door.

The menu may not shout French, but the influence is unmistakable — reimagined through a modern, inventive lens. Think impressive meat and seafood dishes, all kissed by a charcoal grill and deeply flavoured sauces, with vegetarian dishes receiving just as much love.

Every plate is so beautifully composed it feels almost criminal to dive in — at least for the first few seconds…

Just like the carefully curated wine list, the dessert menu is delightfully concise — a small selection done very well. Why offer endless choices when you can perfect a few? Case in point: the chocolate mousse. Inspired by the other tables all seemingly ordering the same indulgent dish, it would have been foolish not to follow suit. And honestly, it did not disappoint. The only mistake? Ordering just one to share.

Worth The Hype?

More than you’d expect. Camarat takes warehouse chic, adds particularly good wine and food and an effortlessly luxurious feel - yet somehow remains entirely unpretentious. Just as suited to a date night as it is to an evening out with friends, when you want something that feels a little more special.
